In August of last year I decided to grow my hair out to what I like to call “lady length.” I told everyone it was because I’d wanted to for a while, but in the past, once it hit an awkward length I’d always give up and cut it…
This so much. A lot of discussion (with gf) and thought going on regarding my gender and identity and the limitations of language slash societal limitations regarding such. Female sex definitely but female gender? I definitely don’t want you to call me sir, but ma’am isn’t totally right either (sometimes?). Not cool with he, but don’t really mind she (out of convenience?). No gender-neutral third person singular option (outside of queer feminist circles) soooooo wut now? Also realizing more and more I need to cultivate relationships with other butch/masculine-of-center/gender non-conforming/genderqueer folks in order to help me discern this shit. ah, identity.
Hahaha hahaha hahaha
